As a Preschool teacher I think there are some
things children have to know more than others, so if I were not limited by the
demands of the national/regional curriculum I would like to teach more routines
and habits in english. I think is essential to lay down a good foundation for
the future. I know the importance of different subjects but I think nowadays
children don´t know basic knowledges we use daily, specially simple things like
how to say thanks in english or good morning. In this age we have to teach
standards of conduct more than knowledge.
At Preschool, children should learn playing
games and experiencing different situations, and we can introduce all this
experiences using the english language. If preschoolers get use to listen their
teachers in english, we will encourage their knowledge in the language and is
in this age when we have to start to do it.
Nowadays there are lots of Clil resources to
use in the class with our students, lots of english websites for preschoolers
that are funnier and more useful than the books. We must be aware of the age
and create good resources for our children because they are the future of our
society.
To sum up, the students should be assessed
unconsciously through the games. I will assess their attitude which has to be
positive and participatory. The teacher can make reflections about the learning
and teaching process to improve the methodology.
